Peoples experiences of stopping during lockdown
‘I thought it would be really tough during lockdown but because I usually smoked around people it was easier than expected as there was no one to offer me a cigarette to make me succumb’
‘As much as I miss the pub and going for a pint, it not being open has helped me stop smoking and cut down on drinking, as having a pint and a cigarette with my mates was my go to most nights’
‘Giving up smoking benefits everyone. When I move about I can breathe better, and feel better’
‘Probably the hardest thing he has ever done (quitting smoking) but the one thing that has given him the best positive benefits’ such as ‘ improving taste – tomatoes taste so much better!’ ‘improved exercise tolerance – not so out of breath going upstairs’
‘By stopping smoking you’ll be part of the East Ridings Smokefree Generation. We want smoking to become a thing of the past, why not be a role model to the next generation and stub out the habit for good!
You will be contacted upon the referral being received to book an appointment to see a YOURhealth Stop Smoking Advisor face to face or currently via virtual or telephone support.
During your first session your Stop Smoking Advisor will set you a quit date and talk to you about maintaining the quit and how to set goals to ensure you achieve the stop smoking status.
You will be required to attend weekly to accept your NRT treatment and talk through with your Stop Smoking Advisor any issues, concerns or barriers to fulfilling you’re quit.
You will be asked to give a CO reading which will determine your smoking status as a quit or non-quit.
If you achieve quit status at week 4, you will be offered further guidance, support and motivation to maintain the quit beyond the treatment intervention along with Nicotine Replacement Therapy or alternative pharmacotherapy.
This is a FREE and CONFIDENTIAL service.
You can contact YOURhealth weekdays between 8am and 8pm Monday – Friday, Weekend clinics are also available between 9am and 3pm every week.
More then 10 million adults smoke cigarettes in Great Britain. We know that two thirds of current smokers would like to quit, is this you?
Unfortunately over half of all regular cigarette smokers will eventually be killed by their addiction. Every year over 100,000 smokers in the UK die from smoking related causes.
