“The Holderness Fishing Industry Group have received fantastic feedback from many fishermen in regards to the mobile Healthtrainers Unit and Seafit Programme. The mobile unit and the team have become a vital part of the harbour community and have directly benefited the health and wellbeing of many fishers and harbour users”.

Jamie Robertson, Managing Director, Holderness Fishing Industry Group, July 2020

The team are supported monthly through additional partner sessions including:

“Maxine is brilliant and Rich has been very supportive and down to earth. They allow you to do it in your own time with no hassle. Sometimes it’s as simple as coming to talk to you and I think that’s the best therapy that there is. Especially for us fisherman with an isolated lifestyle, talking to the Healthtrainers can make you realise life isn’t as bad as you thought”

John White, Fishermen and Vessel Owner, February 2020

“It is an invaluable service for both the fishermen and their families. I love the service as it is difficult to get in with a GP and it encourages them to care for themselves. You’ve made it easy for them to look after their health. The stop smoking service has had a really big impact, especially during Covid-19. Without the service, it’s a worry that some of the fishermen would slip back into poor health habits which has a massive effect on the industry. The simple fact you have a presence on the harbour is a brilliant idea – it works, and you have the results to prove it”.

John Terschak, Marine Research Scientist, Holderness Fishing Industry Group, July 2020
