Hi I’m Asha and I am Community Link worker in the Haltemprice and Market Weighton area.
For most people having a job is an important part of everyday life. Worries about work and employment have increased for many during the pandemic. Finding employment may feel like an impossible task, therefore it is essential to put your mental health first which will be beneficial for employability and job retention itself.
This is a new situation for us all and the important thing is understanding how to manage work stress and not go too hard on ourselves!
My top 5 tips to reduce work and employment worries:
VOLUNTEER- Having a positive impact on your community through volunteering not only improves your mental health but also expands your CV in preparation for finding work.
TRY SOMETHING NEW- Enrolling on a course or taking up a new hobby is a great way to be more mindful! Learning new skills also looks great on your CV.
MEDITATE– Meditation is shown to reduce work stress, improve attention, improve sleep and decrease job burnout.
PHYSICAL HEALTH - Eating well and being physically active can have a positive effect on your mental health to reduce work related stress.
ASK FOR HELP– Don’t do this alone! Support is available to those facing multiple barriers which are preventing you from achieving your goals through our Community Link Service.
