I am feeling great since going smokefree with the help of the Healthtrainers. My skin already looks better too. I’ve been doing the coach to 5K for over 5 weeks, though I have been about 6 times, so not quite to schedule. I have had various issues with running apps closing mid-run or, I’ve not heard when to stop running and start walking. So, last night I decided to just see if I could run for 3K without stopping and it did involve determination, but I did it – and in 18 minutes too! Not bad for a 20 year long smoker. I then walked for 3 minutes before running the rest of the 4th km to get back home.
I’ve chosen not to use any NRT, as I understand that nicotine is the most addictive substance on the planet and I just want it out of my system as swiftly as possible. I have had some withdrawal symptoms, for example my sleep has been affected. I have had trouble falling asleep and waking more than I would usually. I’ve also noticed that I have been a little bit more stressed with technology and traffic than usual. However, in general I have found it relatively easy. I went to a paddle boarding and yoga event over the weekend so I was in good company. As well as being smoke free, I have also decided to go drink free for ‘Go sober October’ too.
I look forward to sharing more updates on my smokefree experience with the help of the Healthtrainers in the near future.
