Welcome to our latest blog post – this time on the topic of ‘A Day in the Life of a Health Trainer’, from the perspective of Emma Andrews, who is a Health Trainer and Community Link Worker.
Firstly, I leave my house at about 8am – hop in the car and start the journey on the windy roads to Withernsea (typical British weather in this photo).
Now to prepare for my first client – a stop smoker. Notepad and CO monitor are ready to go and they are all registered on the system. During the session we speak about how the client is getting on with their products and further ways of helping them break the smoking habit, including changing their morning routine.
Once the client session is complete, it is time for me to write up their notes onto the system and make sure they receive their products that we discussed.
More clients come and go. One of them was an initial weight management client so here is a folder I have prepared to help support them through their sessions and beyond (photo right). For this appointment, the client was briefed on the service we provide and how it can help them before a discussion on current eating habits and physical activity levels were discussed. This allowed me to form ideas of changes that could be made to their lifestyle. The client has been sent away with their folder and some tips to help start changing their lifestyle.
Now it’s lunch time!
After more client face to face appointments and administration work, it is now home time!
